Good morning! Today we are pleased to introduce our virtual assistant Maite, a chatbot integrated in Telegram thanks to which you can find restaurants in your area and book them in just a few minutes.
Maite’s main features
Without a doubt, the feature that makes Maite special is being able to create reservations on our platform, but on top of that, Maite is able to have a general conversation with any user, she’s even able to tell jokes!
How to book a table with Maite?
Booking a table in a restaurant with Maite is very simple, you only have to tell her “Book restaurant in town” or any variation of this phrase and Maite will give you back the best restaurants in that town, in each restaurant you will be able to see a small description, the forks the restaurant has, the average rating and the location of the restaurant, also to make it more comfortable for the user, clicking on the location will open it in Google Maps.
Under the tab of each restaurant you will see a button Reserve, clicking on that button Maite will ask you some questions to make your reservation, these questions include the number of guests, date and time of the reservation and also ask you a phone number to inform you about updates of the status of your reservation.
Once the reservation is completed, a confirmation message will be generated where you can see all the details of our reservation, as well as the location of the restaurant and a downloadable PDF with the menu of the restaurant where we have reserved.
Development of the chatbot with DialogFlow
For the development of Maite we have made use of Google’s tool, DialogFlow. Thanks to this tool we have been able to simply declare all the intentions with which users can interact with our bot and the answers that it must return to users in each case.
In addition, we have taken advantage of the DialogFlow option from Webhook thanks to which we can make requests to our API and thus further enrich the responses and connect to our database to return restaurants and generate reservations in them.
One of the biggest difficulties we encountered in creating the booking system was linking the restaurants in our database with the entities that DialogFlow is able to recognize, to overcome this we had to make use of its API, and twice a day we update all the DialogFlow entities from our database.
