Last weekend, 23 and 24 of November, Ángel López and Alba Hernández, two of our team members, participated in the Hackathon organized by the University of Alicante in Torrevieja Hackea tu destino! in its 2019 edition.
However, despite being partners in everyday life, both participated in different groups in the competition. Alba with her group “Vergonya’s Dev” and Angel in the group “TTT (Torrevieja Tourism Team)”.
Vergonya’s Dev, Alba’s team, proposed a solution to the lack of information about the different services offered by a locality to tourists. Their solution to the challenge of the hackathon, Más que un plan, was something more than a simple agenda, providing even more information on the services of the locality concerned as restaurants, hotels and public transport among others to attract more tourists.
TTT, Ángel’s team, proposed a definitive solution to relax and dispense about the luggage and all the problems and impediments that it can cause when we travel. Their solution, Clothes Away, a platform where you can rent clothes wherever you go on holiday, being able to promote local commerce in those localities and facilitating the planning of a trip, as well as giving an emergency option for exceptional cases.
During the 32 hours of the event, all participating groups worked hard to develop their ideas, business models, platforms (web or mobile) and corresponding presentations.
Finally, TTT won the award for the best app of the competition with a cash contribution of 600€ to be distributed among its 5 members, although the most important thing of the weekend was the experience lived and the pride for a well done work of all the participating groups in which lived a great fellowship and good atmosphere of working in group.
