¡Hello, everyone! We are once again updating our corporate web blog after a few weeks of hard and intensive work on the PBL project. We will talk about our work during quarantine and confinement due to the COVID-19 epidemic, better known as coronavirus.
After a few weeks of uncertainty about whether classes would be cancelled or not, we received the news last Thursday, March 12, that classes were to be definitively cancelled until further notice and, a few days later, the Spanish government decreed the State of Alert and the confinement at home of the whole country. From these dates, the team proceeded to work online and everyone at home, maintaining constant contact and even working with online communication through Discord.
In addition, classes were suspended in person, so we have to meet weekly by videoconference through Google Meet with our teachers for theory classes and to explain and expose our weekly progress in practice classes.
As a mere anecdote, our Project Risk Plan document, deliverable for the subject of Multimedia Projects delivered in the first weeks of October, in which in a really remarkable and even surprising way we get to “predict” future events due to the coronavirus. In our Others section of the above-mentioned document, we introduced five cases that we thought were very unlikely, although we decided to add them as well. The five cases were: “Alien Invasion”, “Winning the lottery and then abandoning the race”, “Banning restaurants”, “World Crisis” and, finally, “Prohibiting reservations in restaurants”.
Surprised we are now of have guessed nothing less than 3 of the 5 cases, because, in the State of Alert in which we are, the opening of restaurants in the country has been prohibited (and therefore all reservations in these have been cancelled and banned) and all the consequences of the pandemic (considered COVID-19 by the WHO) has led to a global crisis. Unfortunately we were not right in the supposed case where we won the lottery, or at least not for the moment, but I hope we don’t suffer an alien invasion.
At the moment, we can only continue to work as we have done until this situation, which is completely unknown to all of us, has us all on alert and locked up at home until they tell us otherwise.
Work on the PBL project continues despite epidemics and quarantines.
